Light of Spain

These pages wordlessly tell the story of a journey through Spain, in which the author, photographer Fernando Manso, visited unknown and remote corners and captured them on the plates of his large-format camera.

Fernando has made the light in these spaces the absolute protagonist of the journey. It is a different kind of light, as he has dispensed with blue skies and bright sun — an image sometimes so cliché — and with spotlights and flashes, to give way to visions of places that, even if known, are shown to us with such intimate truth that we can barely recognize them. This is thanks to his technique, his art, and his patience in waiting for the light.
