Light of Spain

These pages wordlessly tell the story of a journey through Spain, in which the author, photographer Fernando Manso, visited unknown and secluded corners and captured them on the plates of his large-format camera. Fernando made the light in these spaces the absolute protagonist of the journey. It is a different kind of light, as he eschewed blue skies and bright sun—an image sometimes so clichéd—, and spotlights and flashes, to give way to visions of places that, even if known, are revealed to us with such intimate truth that we can barely recognize them. Thanks to his technique, his art, and his patience in waiting for the light. Because Fernando takes all the time in the world—that is his luxury—to bring us closer to an artistic heritage, sometimes secret and difficult to access, that requires a discerning eye: spaces often at risk of disappearing, which he uncovers after detailed investigative work. This work is the result of that journey, with images of great beauty reproduced with exceptional quality, presenting us with a vision of Spain under a different light.
